A Lifetime In The Valley

Bob Nelson
Conway First

I grew up here in the Mount Washington Valley, and this place shaped who I am. My parents owned the Red Parka Pub and the Briarcliff Motel — so from a young age I saw firsthand how hard local families work in the restaurant, hospitality, and tourism industries that keep our Valley strong.

Real estate was also part of my upbringing. My mother worked in the industry and served as president of the White Mountain Board of Realtors. Through her example, I learned early about property ownership, housing, local business, and responsible community growth.

Like many people, my life hasn't been without challenges. For years I struggled with alcohol and substance abuse. Through hard work, faith, support, and personal responsibility, I found sobriety in Nashua. That experience gave me a broader perspective on our state and a deeper appreciation for the values, people, and way of life we have here at home.

Eventually I returned to Conway — because this is where I belong. I started a property services business built on the same jack-of-all-trades work ethic I grew up with. Today, as a local business owner employing more than 30 people, I understand the pressures facing working families, small businesses, property owners, and taxpayers.

My work keeps me closely connected to the housing and real estate challenges facing our Valley. Our company works with homeowners, landlords, and local businesses throughout the region, and I own rental properties in Conway — giving me firsthand insight into how state and local regulations affect housing affordability and the people trying to live and work here.

My commitment has always extended beyond business. I spent 17 years on the North Conway Fire Department — many of them in leadership as a Lieutenant and Captain — and served for years as President of the North Conway Firefighters Association. Protecting our community alongside fellow first responders taught me the true meaning of accountability, sacrifice, leadership, and looking out for your neighbors.

Conway doesn't need another politician. It needs a representative — someone who understands this community not from a distance, but from a lifetime of living, working, and building here.

Standing The Line For Conway

Priority 01

Roll Back Over-Regulation

Bob will work to repeal redundant state regulations that drive up costs for Conway small business owners and push development decisions back to local communities rather than Concord bureaucrats. He will oppose new mandates that increase the property tax burden on Carroll County families already stretched thin — and demand a direct review process forcing Concord to justify the economic impact on Granite Staters before new rules take effect.

Priority 02

Smarter, More Affordable Development

Bob will streamline Conway's local ordinance review so housing and commercial projects spend less time in bureaucratic limbo and more time creating jobs and taxable property. He'll push to align town ordinances with state-level reforms that cut redundant permitting layers. With New Hampshire holding the line against an income tax, keeping property tax bills manageable means getting more built faster — and removing the bottlenecks that slow it down.

Priority 03

Safe Neighborhoods & Local Control

Committed to public safety and the independent spirit that defines New Hampshire. As a 17-year firefighter and fire department leader, Bob understands what it takes to protect a community and back our first responders. He'll fight to keep decisions about Conway in the hands of Conway — defending local control, neighborhood safety, and the values that make the Valley home.
