Freedom
The New Hampshire constitution, article 2 [Natural Rights.]: All men have certain natural, essential, and inherent rights among which are, the enjoying and defending life and liberty; acquiring, possessing, and protecting, property; and, in a word, of seeking and obtaining happiness. Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by this state on account of race, creed, color, sex or national origin.
The Constitution of the United States preamble: “We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”
To anyone who reads and respects our state and US constitutions, this should make clear that freedom is a natural right, to be protected and respected by others and by every level of government. And yet, we know this is not the case. Governments at all levels have been restricting our freedom in unconstitutional ways, and courts are allowing those restrictions to happen, with flimsy justifications.
Despite the clear need to protect our freedoms from such encroachments, when candidates decide to run for office to reverse that concerning trend, they are often attacked under the pretense that they must be paid off by corporations or billionaires that somehow use promoting freedom as a shield for their nefarious activities.
People keep forgetting that money does not buy elections, as recently proven by the spectacular failures of both Tom Steyer and Michael Bloomberg, both of whom spent hundreds of millions as 2020 Presidential candidates. Steyer ended up with zero delegates and an expenditure of over $3,000 per vote received, while Bloomberg spent over $500,000,000 to win 59 delegates out of the 1,991 required to win the nomination.
Elections are won or lost by the quality of the ideas and policies a candidate brings to the table, and by the ability of a candidate to articulate their message and earn support from the voters. If money bought elections, President Bloomberg would now be in the Oval Office.
New Hampshire is a great state to live in because we value and defend freedom, and if elected, I will work to keep us free. Having been born and raised in a communist country, I can do nothing less than that, so we can leave a better world to our children.
