A Lifetime of Service
Ed Twaddell has spent his life serving his country and his community — and now he's ready to serve his neighbors in Meredith.
Ed grew up in Jaffrey, arriving there when the Army assigned his father to what was then Ft. Devens. He spent his childhood camping, fishing, and canoeing, and earned his Eagle Scout. That love of New Hampshire never left him.
He went on to graduate from West Point in 1997 and spent over 25 years as an infantry officer, retiring as a Colonel. His career took him across the southern U.S. and Italy, with deployments to Egypt, Iraq, Djibouti, and Afghanistan. When it was time to hang up the uniform, he came back to the state where his parents and sister still live.
Today Ed runs a small farm in Meredith, raising pastured lamb and producing honey. He serves on the Interlakes School Board and the Meredith Conservation Commission, and volunteers with the local Scout Troop. He brings the same discipline and straight talk to his community that carried him through a quarter century of military service.

What I'm Fighting For
Education
The demands on our schools continue to rise while enrollments continue to fall. The proportion of special education students in the overall population also continues to rise, consuming a greater proportion of operational budgets. Our challenge is to provide all of our students with the education that they will need to live, work, and thrive as citizens of our state and country.
Housing
Housing for young people — both young families and those on their own — is, at best, challenging in NH. We have an older demographic in our state, and if we cannot find a way to house the next generation, the jobs that will support that older demographic will go unfilled.
Economic Development
New Hampshire must attract and retain industries that create well-paying jobs in order to generate the opportunities that will convince the next generations to remain here and build their lives and raise their families.

From camping and canoeing as a boy in Jaffrey to raising lamb and honey on a small farm in Meredith, Ed's roots run deep in New Hampshire soil.
He returned home after a career of service to give back to the community he loves — serving on the Interlakes School Board, the Meredith Conservation Commission, and volunteering with the local Scout Troop. That's the same steady, hands-on leadership he'll bring to the State House.
