I Like Gary

Gary Matteson brings 50 years of farming wisdom and community leadership to fight for Epsom families in Concord.

Gary Matteson

Your Neighbor, Your Voice

Gary Matteson isn't just another politician — he's your neighbor. Gary is now Epsom's elected Town Moderator, School District Moderator, and member of the Zoning Board of Adjustment. He served ten years on the Planning Board, been appointed Selectman, and was a First Responder on the Epsom Rescue Squad. Gary has dedicated his life to serving our community.

Gary raised his family while operating a wholesale greenhouse cut flower business and raising beef cattle right here on Swamp Road. His deep roots in farming, small business, and finance give him a unique understanding of what hard-working New Hampshire families need.

With bachelor's degrees in agronomy and biology from the University of Connecticut, Gary brings both practical wisdom and thoughtful analysis to every challenge. His leadership on regional and national Farm Credit boards proves his ability to tackle complex financial issues while never losing sight of Main Street values.

Gary has served on many non-profit boards, including: NHMade, NH Rural Development Council, NH Workforce Opportunity Council, NH Center for Public Policy Studies, National Farmers Market Coalition, National Farmer Veteran Coalition, Native Agriculture Financial Services, Ag Finance Sustainability Coalition, USDA Equity Commission, USDA Advisory Committee on Beginning Farmers, and the Boston Flower Exchange. Known for reaching across political divides and making even Town Meeting sessions enjoyable, Gary brings people together to get things done.

Fighting for Epsom Families

Real solutions from someone who understands the challenges you face every day

Protect the NH Advantage: No income tax or sales tax

Gary will vote against any legislation that imposes an income tax or statewide sales tax, protecting New Hampshire's competitive advantage that expands opportunities for all. He'll support spending restraint and oppose unfunded mandates that force local communities to raise property tax rates.

Focus on Student Accomplishment, Not Student Spending

Gary will push for performance-based education funding that rewards schools for actual student achievement. He'll champion transparency measures requiring school districts to publicly report how every education dollar translates into measurable student outcomes, ensuring Epsom families get real results for their tax investment.

Assuring Community Prosperity

The quality of life in New Hampshire depends on civic engagement and citizen government. Gary believes in independent institutions that build community: families, clubs, associations, organizations, churches, and town government. Rather than division, he seeks to build a reimagined common future that inspires trust in freedom and responsibility.

Bridging Divides, Building Trust

Throughout his years of service, Gary has proven that respectful dialogue and genuine listening can overcome partisan gridlock. Whether moderating town meetings or serving on U.S. Department of Agriculture national advisory boards, he brings people together to find common ground and practical solutions that work for everyone.
