A Lifetime Of Service

Mike Belanger, owner and proprietor of the Chase House Inn in Cornish, has deep roots in New Hampshire — and he's running to restore common-sense policies and fiscal responsibility for the hard-working residents of Cornish and Plainfield.

Mike retired to Cornish in 2020 following a 37-year career in government service. Serving in postings to both the Department of Defense and the Department of State, his leadership propelled him to the pinnacle of executive service within the federal government. These experiences taught him one thing above all else: taxpayer money should be spent carefully and responsibly.

He plans to bring that same concern for fiscal discipline to Concord — pushing back on wasteful spending and keeping government out of people's lives where it does not belong.

Where Mike Stands

01

Expand Education Freedom

Mike will expand Education Freedom Accounts to give Sullivan County families real choices beyond their assigned district school. He'll push to redirect per-pupil state funding toward families rather than growing administrative bureaucracy. With no income tax to fall back on, Granite Staters deserve a system where their property tax dollars follow students — not pad district overhead.

02

Cap Property Taxes

Mike will push for a statutory cap on annual property tax increases to protect homeowners being squeezed out of their own communities. He'll oppose any new broad-based taxes, demand zero-based budgeting reviews to cut waste, and fight to block unfunded mandates from Concord — the shell game that drives your local tax bill up every year.

03

Election Integrity

Mike will work to ensure New Hampshire keeps paper ballots and hand-count audits that give Granite Staters direct verification of their elections. He'll oppose ranked-choice voting and same-day registration changes that strain town moderators, and push to enforce voter domicile laws so our elections are decided by people who actually live here.

Our Promise
"Taxpayer money should be spent carefully and responsibly — and government should stay out of people's lives where it does not belong."

A Local Business Owner Who Gets It

As owner of the historic Chase House Inn in Cornish, Mike understands the day-to-day realities facing small business owners and families across the Upper Valley. He knows what it means to meet a payroll, manage a budget, and answer to the people you serve. That same accountability is what he'll bring to the State House.

Engaged Beyond Business

Mike is already deeply involved across the Upper Valley — serving on the Cornish Energy Committee, the Board of Directors at Crown Point Country Club, and as a council member at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. As a lifetime member of the Charlestown VFW, he continues to honor those who served. These experiences keep him close to the concerns of the good people of Sullivan County District 2.
