38 Years Educating Our Youth

Peter Mehegan has taught French in public and private schools since 1978. He spent two years overseas, leading community outreach teams throughout France and other countries. When he returned to the states in 1987 with his Swedish wife Marie, Pembroke schools hired him immediately.

At Pembroke Academy, Mehegan ran a peer outreach program and got involved in local youth ministry. For twenty years, he trained students to produce daily video morning announcements. He also directed the PA Players drama program over fourteen years through thirty plays, staging productions with casts of up to fifty students.

Peter and Marie homeschooled their eight children until the district restored its music program. His focus in the legislature will be helping New Hampshire families prepare for the challenges ahead.

Fighting for What Matters

Common Sense with Budgets

When one line in the budget cannot be capped, the budget cannot be capped. We need fiscal discipline and accountability in every area of government spending.

Pembroke Matters

I'm winding up my 38th year with Pembroke Academy. I'm for Pembroke as a safe, healthy home. I'm for the success and excellence of our schools; for the kids in town and their families whom I've lived with and worked with and for. I'm for the current administrations and faculties and staff of the schools at every level because I know them. They are qualified professionals and will be able to make a difference. They work for your kids in this town.

In education, I'm for honesty, transparency and choice. When it comes to taxes, I'm for simplicity as well as honesty and transparency. To that end, I am working for a unified, honest, realistic defense against mandates that extort without limit the yearly increases that make homeownership more challenging.

The Blessings of Liberty

I am for the US Constitution and will stand in its defense as the historically quintessential expression of determined self-governance. With the respect due to the guidance it establishes, our tattered union can be restored and made more perfect, and we will have a liberty so blessed we will have something to pass on to our posterity. I am ultimately for our posterity, and will work to protect our offspring from all who seek by every means to eliminate even the possibility thereof.

Rooted in Pembroke

A Proven Record of Leadership

For nearly four decades, Peter Mehegan has been a cornerstone of the Pembroke community. From the classroom to the theater stage, from youth ministry to family life, he has consistently demonstrated his commitment to building a stronger, more vibrant community.

As your state representative, Peter will bring that same dedication and hands-on approach to Concord, fighting for policies that strengthen our families, protect our freedoms, and ensure Pembroke remains a great place to live, work, and raise a family.

Healthcare costs and special education costs must have the same restraints placed on them as every other line in the budget, and school boards need the legal authority to say "no" when any line in the budget surpasses what is affordable and reasonable.
